More than six million people in Ethiopia are refugees or internally displaced, over half of them children. Their lives and educations have been disrupted by conflict, climate
disasters, and poverty.
When children, especially girls, are denied an education, their lives and futures are in danger. They are more likely to be subjected to child labour and early or forced marriage.
In fact, 73% of girls in Ethiopia are forced into child marriage. This puts them at risk of early pregnancy, life-threatening complications in childbirth, physical
and sexual violence, and a lifetime of poverty.
That’s why Save the Children created the Brighter Outcomes Ethiopia program—to deliver gender- and disability-responsive education for children living in refugee and displacement camps. Because every child has the right to an education.
Your donation can help children right away, ensuring they have access to the education that is their right.
