By reading books from Indigenous authors and illustrators, Indigenous children can embrace their heritage and find acceptance, particularly in remote communities where resources may be limited. You can give a child the gift of books that represent them, their stories, and their communities.

The increasing number of climate emergencies, like extreme weather, flooding, and forest fires, regularly force entire Indigenous communities in northern Canada to be evacuated. Provide an emergency backpack that contains a hygiene kit, ID bracelet, flashlight, toy, notebook and pen, along with emergency training to keep a child safe.

The Healing Through the Arts program provides kits with creative supplies, such as paints, pencils, charcoal and sewing materials, along with emotional and cultural support to assist Indigenous children in strengthening mental resilience and interpersonal abilities while celebrating and revitalizing their cultural identity.

There are approximately 70 Indigenous languages currently spoken in Canada — it is projected that only three will still be spoken in 30 years. Alongside local Indigenous partners, support the creation of audio/video resources and books to revitalize Indigenous languages and help a child reclaim the connection to their spirituality, culture, and identity.
